Students at U-N-B in Fredericton getting the chance to question federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau. He says universities will be getting federal infrastructure funding for research so they can become the hubs for innovation.
Morneau says when it comes to which projects will get infrastructure money, one of the criteria will be the effect on greenhouse gas emissions.
In the wake of publicity over the leaked Panama Papers with names of those who using offshore tax havens, Morneau says Revenue Canada has been given an additional 470 million dollars to do its job better to make sure everyone pays their fair share of tax.
He adds Canada doesn’t suffer as much from companies leaving the country for other jurisdictions because the tax burden here is too high.
