Federal Funding For Flood Mitigation In Sussex

There has been some nasty flooding in recent years in the Town of Sussex but a new project will hopefully put and end to it.

The MP for the area, Alaina Lockhart recently announced government funding of $637,500 under its National Disaster Mitigation Program for the Dairytown.

The money will go towards the design and then construction of a stormwater pumping station and a flood berm to be put help cut down on the surface flooding of the Kennebecasis River at Gateway Mall the town’s largest business hub.

The project actually began in 2018 and has been extended until March 31, 2020.
