We still don’t know where the new federal government stands on the proposed Energy East pipeline.
The Minister responsible for climate change, Catherine McKenna says we will know in the coming weeks how that project will move forward. She concedes there’s a lack of public trust in the way in which big energy projects have been approved and that loss of trust has to be rebuilt.
The Council of Canadians charges the National Energy Board is stacked with Harper appointees and industry insiders and the proposed Energy East pipeline should go through a new review process with more consultation with First Nations and greater evaluation of the effect on climate change.
