Fire At East Saint John Home

No injuries were reported after a weekend fire at a home in east Saint John.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Eastland Court around 4 p.m. Saturday.

“Upon arrival, crews were met with moderate smoke and fire coming from the Delta side of the structure,” said Mark Arrand, acting platoon chief for the Saint John Fire Department.

“Crews made forcible entry into the building, where they located a small smouldering fire in the basement of this residence.”

Arrand said no one was home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were hurt.

There is no word on a possible cause at this point.
