Fire At Port

City fire crews called out early this morning shortly after 4:00 to put out a box car fire at the port on the west side in the vicinity of the medal shredder.

Platoon Chief Peter Saab says the fire broke out in an open rail car filled with recycled auto parts. The fire department doused the blaze, which could be seen from across the water, from above and then removed all the contents to make sure there are no pockets of fire.

The cause was accidental.
