Fire At Vacant North End Building

The cause of a fire at a vacant building in the north end of Saint John is under investigation.

Fire crews were called to the boarded-up building at 123-125 Main Street shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.

Platoon Chief Kevin Comeau said flames had penetrated the wall and were working their way into the ceiling.

Comeau said crews quickly knocked down the fire and contained it to the area where it started. No one was hurt.

The building was boarded back up by staff form the city’s works department, he said.
