Fire Causes Minor Damage To Apartment Building

There was minor damage to a Saint John apartment building after a fire on Wednesday evening.

Firefighters were called to Garden Street near Coburg Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Platoon Chief Steve Voutour said a pile of debris outside of the building, which was undergoing renovations, had caught fire.

Voutour said there was minor damage to the building’s exterior but firefighters were able to snuff out the flames before they got inside the building or another one next door.

Voutour says they were able to snuff out the flames before they got inside the building or another one next door.

He said the fire does not appear to be suspicious and has been deemed accidental at this time.

No one was hurt and fire crews were on scene for about an hour.
