Fire Damages Loch Lomond Road Home

Fire has caused extensive damage to a one-storey bungalow near the Saint John Airport.

City fire crews say they were called to the home on Loch Lomond Road around 7:20 p.m. Thursday.

“There was heavy fire in the back on the deck that got up the wall into the roof area,” said platoon Chief Craig Melvin.

About 20 firefighters were called to the scene and remained there for about two hours, he said.

Melvin said two people were home when the fire broke out but escaped without injuries.

“They found accommodations on their own,” he said.

Fire investigators are still looking into what caused the blaze.
