UPDATE: Fire Damages Sussex Home

Three people have been forced from their home after a fire in the town of Sussex.

Deputy fire chief Jason Howe said they were called to Maple Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Howe said flames were discovered on the outside of the house, claiming up to the veranda roof and walls of the home.

“After the fire was extinguished, the structure was thoroughly checked to see if the fire had spread further,” said Howe in an email to our newsroom.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but Howe said it is not considered suspicious. No one was hurt.
