Five city fire crews helped to battle a blaze early Thursday morning at a home on Westfield Road.
The Saint John Fire Department says firefighters had to force their way in to attack the fire.
There was an emergency evacuation of all crews due to rapidly deteriorating conditions.
The home is significantly damaged.
There’s no word yet whether or not anyone was home at the time of the fire.
Crews will remain on scene throughout the morning working to contain hotspots.
