Fire In North End

A fire broke out late yesterday afternoon in a 150 year old building at 81 Kennedy Street in the north end.

Platoon Chief Steve Vautour says heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming from the roof of the building when fire crews arrived and they spent 4 hours putting it out.

The bulk of the fire was in the attic area but it spread the length of the building. Holes had to be cut into the roof by firefighters.

There was no one in the building at the time and the cause is under investigation.
