Firehouse Subs Foundation grants $40K to SJFD for equipment

The Saint John Fire Department received a $40,000 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada.

The department used the money to buy a brand-new all-terrain vehicle that will ensure fast response times to natural disasters and emergencies in wooded or off-road areas.

Saint John Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Ed Moyer says they are extremely grateful to the foundation for the generous support.

“This new ATV is a game-changer for our department, as it allows us to quickly reach areas that were previously difficult to access, from dense woods to challenging terrain. Having this capability strengthens our ability to respond faster and more effectively,” said Moyer.

SJFD gathered at Firehouse Subs’ Saint John West location to announce the generous grant, display the new equipment, and host a touch-the-truck event for locals.

The grant is the most recent of 438 awarded to public safety organizations since 2015 and is specifically one of the 20 awarded in the most recently. The 20 grants hold a total value of $594,000 and have helped provide critical lifesaving equipment.
