Inflation was down a bit on a yearly basis in February at 1.4 per cent.
Stats Canada is saying on a year to year basis, higher prices for fresh vegetables and fresh fruit contributed the most to the increase in food prices.
Consumers paid 3.9% more for their food. Prices for food bought from stores rose by 4.4% in the 12 months to February.
Gasoline prices were down 13.1% year over year in February, contributing the most to the overall deceleration in consumer prices
