A former Common Councillor, who was suffering from Alzheimers, has died at the age of 80.
Shirley Arthurs served one term on Council from 1995 to 1999. She sought re-election but lost narrowly to Stephen Chase after a recount.
Arthurs also hosted her own TV program on cable called “Shirley and Company”, which ran for many years. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10 in the chapel at Brenan’s on Paradise Row.
Late last month former Saint John East M-L-A Carol Keddy also passed away at the age of 79.
