Former Edmundston officer charged with voyeurism, child porn

A former Edmundston Police Force has been charged with voyeurism and child pornography offences, according to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

SiRT explained the charges were laid after a member of the public reported finding secretly recorded images and videos on the officer’s computer in August last year.

It also mentioned these images and videos were captured while the officer was employed by the police force.

The officer faces two counts of voyeurism, one count of making child pornography, and one count of possessing child pornography.

The former officer, whose name has been withheld to protect the victims’ identities, will appear before the Edmundston Provincial Court next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

SiRT is responsible for investigating serious incidents involving police officers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and has stated that no further comments will be made as the matter is before the courts.

The independent civilian director of SiRT has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid after an investigation.
