Former Moncton teacher sentenced for historic sex crimes

A former Moncton teacher has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for historic sex crimes.

Paul Maillet of Notre-Dame was found guilty of several charges following a trial earlier this year.

They include sexual assault, gross indecency, sexual touching and possessing child pornography.

RCMP said the charges related to incidents involving several victims between 1967 and 2022.

Maillet has also been ordered to register with the National Sex Offender Registry.

Following his release from prison, he will have to follow conditions set out by the court.
