Former NB Power CEO highest-paid civil servant in 2022

NB Power’s former president and CEO was the highest-paid civil servant in 2022, despite being fired midway through the year.

Keith Cronkhite earned between $600,000 and $624,999, according to new figures released by the province.

Cronkhite was fired in July 2022 and later replaced by Lori Clark, who earned $350,000 to $374,999.

At least two other NB Power employees earned more than Clark. One earned $450,000 to $474,999, the other between $375,000 and $399,999.

The figures show that 16 of the 24 civil servants across government departments and agencies who earned at least $300,000 worked at NB Power.

Other top earners last year included Vitalité Health president and CEO France Desrosier, who made between $350,000 and $374,999.

Chief medical health officer Dr. Jennifer Russell was paid between $325,000 and $349,999, while NB Liquor and Cannabis NB president and CEO Lori Stickles earned $300,000 to $324,999.

Five current and former judges earned between $275,000 and $299,999 while 20 others made between $250,000 and $274,999.

Across the civil service, more than 18,900 people were included in the 2022 database, meaning they earned a salary of at least $80,000.

More than 8,000 employees received at least $100,000, including nearly 250 who earned more than $200,000. Nearly 90 of those individuals made at least $250,000.
