Fredericton Man In Custody After North Side Incident

A 20-year-old man is in custody in Fredericton after barricading himself inside a home on the north side of the city.

Police say officers were dispatched to Burpee Street at around 6:40 p.m. last night after reports of a young man who was threatening to harm himself and had access to weapons.

No one else was inside the residence at the time.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

The man came out of the home just before 8 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

He is being treated at the hospital for unrelated injuries.
