Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch Releases Statement

The Fredericton police chief releasing a statement in the midst of controversy.

Chief Leanne Fitch says it’s important to remember there are still many hard-working officers on the force. Two Fredericton police officers have been fired, first was Constable Jeff Smiley and now Constable Cherie Campbell has been dismissed following her arrest for shoplifting in Houlton, Maine.

Fitch also says they’re committed to working with the union to deal with current and future issues and to a thorough review of the New Brunswick Police Act, she says, to ensure that it can deal more effectively with issues that may arise.
