Friday Morning Sports For December 12th

The Arizona Cardinals won’t know the extent of quarterback Drew Stanton’s right knee injury suffered in last night’s 12-6 win over the St. Louis Rams until they get back to Phoenix and put the quarterback through more tests.

In the NHL, Chicago won its 8th in a row, edging the Bruins 3-2 but losing captain Jonathon Toews who left the game after being hit from behind and going face first into the boards…..Ottawa, with new coach Dave Cameron, lost to the Los Angeles Kings 5-3….St. Louis doubled up on the Islanders 6-3 with Fredericton’s Jake Allen in goal….Elsewhere, it was Tampa Bay 2 Carolina 1…..Philadelphia 4 New Jersey 1 and Columbus 3 Washington 2.

The Red Sox traded for pitcher Rick Porcello, a 15 game winner, from the Tigers in exchange for outfielder Yeonis Cespedes and signed free agent right-hander Justin Masterson, who was hampered last season by a knee injury, to a one year deal.

In what was described as a clawfest at the Station, the Mill Rats lost to Halifax 110-104.

In the NBA, with LeBron James out with a knee injury, Cleveland’s winning streak came to an end as the Cavs lost to Oklahoma City 103-94.
