In the NHL, Chicago won its 9th in a row with a 2-1 win over Montreal as Corey Crawford made 39 saves….Blackhawk coach Joel Quennville is now second on the all time list of wins for a coach behind Scotty Bowman….The Islanders scored three times in the third period for a 3-1 win over the Rangers…..Washington beat Vancouver 4-1…..It was Detroit over Arizona in overtime 3-2…..Winnipeg got by Nashville in overtime 5-4….San Jose edged Edmonton in a shootout 2-1…Colorado shut out New Jersey 3-0 and Carolina defeated St. Louis 4-1.

At Harbour Station, the Mill Rats beat Halifax for the second night in a row, 98-91 to move just a half game back of the Hurricanes in the Atlantic Division of the National Basketball League. Doug Herring Junior led the Mill Rats in scoring with 22 points.

In the NBA, the Raptors downed Orlando, in overtime, 106-103 in a game played in London, England. San Antonio won its 32nd straight game at home, 99-95 over Cleveland. Elsewhere, it was Chicago 115 Philadelphia 111 (OT)…..Memphis 103 Detroit 101……Sacramento 103 Utah 101 and Golden State 116 Los Angeles Lakers 98.

The San Francisco 49’ers have named Chip Kelly, recently fired by the Philadelphia Eagles, as their new head coach.

It’s reported by MASN that the Baltimore Orioles are talking with free agent outfielder Yeonis Cespedes about a five year deal worth from 75 to 90 million dollars.
