At the Canadian Little League Intermediate Tournament, Quebec won the title with a 16-11 win over Alberta in the championship game and now move on to the Intermediate World Series this weekend. New Brunswick lost in the semi finals 10-0 to Alberta.
The Blue Jays making another big trade, acquiring pitcher David Price from Detroit in exchange for three minor league pitching prospects. Price is 9 and 4 with a 2.53 ERA this season. He will be a free agent after the season…..The Blue Jays hit three homers and downed Kansas City 5-2 to move 6 games back of the American League East leading New York Yankees who lost 7-6 in Texas……Another big night from David Ortiz as the Red Sox as they beat the Chicago White Sox 8-2. Ortiz went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs.
Houston moving two games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the A-L West after winning 3-0 to sweep the series and also making a trade with Milwaukee for outfielder Carlos Gomez.
San Francisco strengthening its pitching staff by acquiring Mike Leake from Cincinnati……The Los Angeles Dodgers have added pitchers, acquiring Mat Latos from the Miami Marlins along with Alex Wood, Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan from the Atlanta Braves in a 13 player deal.
The Pittsburgh Pirates getting reliever Joakim Soria from the Detroit Tigers for a minor leaguer. Soria was 3 and 1 with 23 saves and a 2.85 ERA in 43 appearances with Detroit this season. He didn’t allow a run in 13 of his last 14 relief appearances.
In New Brunswick Senior Baseball, the Saint John Alpines snapped a 12 game losing streak with a 10-6 win over the Moncton FisherCats.
