Friday Morning Sports For March 11th

Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being hit on the side of the head by a teammate in Montreal’s 3-2 win over Buffalo. The Canadiens say Subban was taken to hospital for further testing of a neck injury……Carolina edged Boston in overtime 3-2…..It was Detroit over Winnipeg 3-2…..Jaromir Jagr scored two goals and former Sea Dog Jonathon Huberdeau had a goal and an assist as Florida beats Ottawa 6-2….Edmonton got by Minnesota 2-1 and New Jersey shut out San Jose 3-0.

The Saint John Mill Rats’ 4-game winning streak over the division leading Halifax Hurricanes coming to an end with a 112-101 loss. The Hurricane pulled away with two minutes left. Anthony Anderson led Saint John with 29 points.

In the NBA, DeMar DeRozan had 30 points and five rebounds as the Toronto Raptors downed Atlanta 104-96. San Antonio won its 31st straight home game, 109-101 over Chicago……Lebron James and Kobe Bryant played against eachother for the last time in Cleveland’s 120-108 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. James had 24 points with Bryant scoring 26 and it was Denver over Phoenix 116-98.

At the Brier, New Brunswick, represented by the Mike Kennedy rink, losing to Northern Ontario 10-5 and Quebec 9-7 to stand at 3 and 7. Northern Ontario continues to lead the competition at 10 and 0.
