Friday Morning Sports For May 15th

Tyler Seguin scored a hat trick as Canada shut out Belarus 9-0 at the World Hockey championship and will take on the Czech Republic in the semi finals……Evgeni Malkin scored twice to lift Russia over Sweden 5-3. Former Sea Dog Charlie Coyle scoring as the U-S rallied for a 3-1 victory over Switzerland to earn a semifinal matchup against Russia tomorrow.

In the Majors, the Yankees were swept by Tampa Bay as the Rays win 6-1….Houston rallied for a 6-4 win over the Blue Jays…..Brock Holt doubled and scored the go-ahead run on Rickie Weeks’ error with one out in the ninth inning as the Red Sox got by Seattle 2-1 for their fourth win in five games.

In the National League, the Chicago Cubs rallied from a 5-1 deficit to edge the New York Mets 6-5 and Colorado scored 3 in the 9th for a 5-4 win over the Dodgers.

New Brunswick Senior League baseball is starting up with the Saint John Alpines at home tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader against Charlottetown. It starts at 2:00 at Memorial Field.

In the NBA playoffs, Cleveland advancing with a 94-73 win over Chicago in spite of LeBron James only scoring 15 points……Houston rallied from 19 points down with 40 points in the final quarter to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 119-107 to force a game seven.

The New England Patriots are openly and publicly challenging the NFL’s authority by rebutting the report on the use of deflated footballs in the A-F-C championship game. The four game suspension handed quarterback Tom Brady is being appealed.
