The Fundy Regional Services Commission will hear from two consultants on regional policing at their January meeting.
That meeting will be closed due to issues relating to collective agreements and they will explain the costs associated with an independent study.
Commission Chair Grace Losier says the facts coming out of any study on regional policy will face scrutiny.
She says it has to defend what they are asking to do against its competitors so it’s very indepth and it doesn’t come cheap.
Commission Executive Director Jack Keir has been asked if they are on a fool’s errand in terms of where they may end up with it and he says he can’t answer that only the board can. He will say that if he is on a fool’s errand he wants to know how much it will cost.
Similar policing studies in Moncton and Halifax have cost more than six-figures.
