Fuel Prices Spike In N.B.

Fuel prices took a significant jump overnight in New Brunswick, just as analysts had expected.

The price for regular self-serve increased by 5.5 cents after the weekly setting by the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board.

The most you will now pay throughout the province is $1.42 per litre, though most stations are selling for a few cents less.

Diesel prices have also climbed by nearly five cents to a new maximum price of $1.384 per litre.

Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, said the markets really surged last week and this was a delayed reaction.

This time last year, regular self-serve was selling for $1.03 per litre while diesel was going for $1.006 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price for furnace oil increased by just under five cents to a new maximum of $1.203 per litre.

Propane prices fell by three-tenths of a cent to a maximum of $1.177 per litre.

Fuel prices are reset every Wednesday night in New Brunswick.
