Funny Money In Saint John

A warning from city police about bogus Canadian money making the rounds in Saint John in denominations of 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollar bills.

Sergeant Chuck Breen says the bills are not of good quality and have an obvious flaw with Chinese lettering on them.

Police have received 5 reports in the past couple of weeks.

Sergeant Breen says the bills feel more like paper rather than than the plastic like polymer bills and merchants should take time to inspect any currency to ensure it is authentic prior to accepting it as payment.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Saint John Police Force at 648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
