The New Brunswick Liberals say they have a plan to cut provincial spending and balance the budget in six years.
Leader Brian Gallant says the cuts would be identified by a strategic program review with a focus on eliminating waste.
He says every New Brunswicker believes savings can be found in government but, it will just take time and political will.
Gallant says the savings would be strategically re-invested to create jobs and grow the economy.
Former federal finance minister Paul Martin had a similar plan while in office and recently endorsed Gallant’s idea.
The provincial election campaign officially gets underway at midnight Thursday.
