Garden Street construction begins Monday

A key route heading into and out of Saint John’s uptown will be closed for the next few months.

Construction on Garden Street between City Road and Hazen Street is slated to begin on Monday.

The street will be closed to through traffic in both directions until Nov. 15, according to the city.

“The upper portion of Garden Street can still be accessed from Somerset Street, towards Coburg Street,” the city said in a news release.

“Motorists traveling to the east side of the city on New Brunswick Route 1 should use the Crown Street Interchange.”

Access will remain open to residents of Garden Street and Charles Street, officials said.

Construction work will include water, sanitary and storm sewer upgrades, along with street reconstruction.
