Gardner Says Province Left CCH Alone In Place Of Extra Mural Nurses

“The provincial government didn’t touch the Charlotte County Hospital, instead they went after Extra Mural services.”

That from John Gardner, Co-chair of the Concerned Citizens of Charlotte County group, who says we have plenty of Extra Mural nurses in St. Stephen, who go into the homes of the elderly, and anyone in need of a nurse who doesn’t need to be in hospital.

Gardner says these employees will be taken out of the healthcare system and put into privatization with Medavie EMS, a privately owned organization.

He says by doing this, they have added another layer of duality along with privatizing, which he says are two things New Brunswickers don’t want.

Gardner adds, “Even though it wasn’t in the budget, it only says according to the press release that it’s something, you know, they were considering other things and as an example of… they could do this. They went ahead and did it anyway.”
