Gas Prices Inch Upward, Diesel Prices Plummet

Mixed news at the fuel pumps after the weekly setting by the Energy and Utilities Board.

Gasoline prices inched upward to near-record highs while diesel prices fell significantly.

The new maximum price for regular self-serve is $2.08 per litre, an increase of more than four cents.

Diesel prices, on the other hand, fell by 23 cents to a new maximum of just over $2.15.

That is the lowest price we have seen for diesel in more than a month.

However, diesel prices are still 16 to 20 cents higher than in neighbouring Nova Scotia.

The price for furnace oil also fell by more than 23 cents overnight to a new maximum of just under $1.94 per litre.

Propane fell by 1.6 cents and is now selling for a maximum of just over $1.27 per litre.

Fuel prices are reset every Wednesday night in New Brunswick.
