Saint John Harbour is being called one of the ridings to watch during this election because it has no incumbent and a lot of high profile candidates are seeking the seat.
Wayne Dryer is seeking the seat for the Green Party and tells our newsroom, the issue of fair taxation is something he has been hearing a lot about while going door to door.
“For me, the biggest issue in Saint John is the inequity in which citizens and corporate structures are bearing the burden of the financial obligations that the city has,” says Dryer.
Dryer says he attended a community dinner a while ago and the look on some people’s faces lead him to seek office.
“To feel that they have some say in their future the reason why people here in Saint John don’t vote is because they have no sense that voting will make any difference at all, stated Dryer.
Dryer says it is his mission to have “Hope Restored” in an area he says needs it.
The other candidates are NDP Leader Jennifer Mckenzie, Barry Ogden for the Progressive Conservatives and Gerry Lowe for the Liberals.
