Green Party Leader Denounces Freeze On Social Assistance

Provincial Green Party leader David Coon says it comes down to a question of common decency and justice.

He’s accusing the provincial government of punishing the most vulnerable by not raising social assistance, pointing out that 80 per cent of those people receiving income assistance, for all practical purposes, cannot work.

Coon adds 100 thousand New Brunswickers live in poverty including 22 thousand families.
