Guilty Pleas In Harrassment and Attempted Murder For Hire Case

A change of plea at the trial of John Francis Lingley on charges of criminal harrassment and for attempting to hire someone to commit murder.

The Crown’s Paul Hawkins says Lingley called the victim up to 20 times a day and also sent emails.

Both the RCMP and KV Police spoke to him on several occaisions about not calling her, emailing or showing up at her home but it continued until he was charged in November.

On December 31st 2015, while at the Kent’s store on the West side he asked a staff member if he was a good shot and that he’d give them $20,000 right now.

He also placed a large wad of cash on the counter and said “if she has me arrested one more time…”.

Knowing his previous history with the victim, the staff contacted Saint John police and Lingley was arrested within 30 minutes.

Lingley changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on two charges today

The judge accepted those pleas with sentencing scheduled for April 7th.
