Half of small business owners undecided ahead of election

Half of New Brunswick small business owners are unsure who they will vote for in the upcoming provincial election.

That is according to a survey recently conducted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

“With 95 per cent of members indicating they will vote and half saying they are undecided, political parties would be well served by unveiling their plans for small businesses early in the campaign,” Atlantic Vice-President Louis-Philippe Gauthier said in a news release.

The survey also asked small business owners what their top issues are heading into the election campaign.

A total of 83 per cent said reducing provincial taxes is very important and would influence how they vote.

That is followed by investing in health care (78 per cent), reducing government red tape (70 per cent), investing in public infrastructure (62 per cent) and reducing/preventing property crime (57 per cent).

Voters will head to the polls on or before Oct. 21.
