Hampton reveals multi-purpose facility name as fundraising continues

Hampton has officially launched the public phase of fundraising for its new community facility, now named the Summit Centre.

Officials say $2.2 million has already been raised, but the campaign is working toward a $4 million goal to help complete the project.

A big part of this initiative is the Seat Dedication Matching Challenge, which is backed by the J.T. Clark Family Foundation.

If all 537 arena seats are sponsored through $500 donations by July 31, the foundation will match every dollar raised, doubling the impact.

“This is an opportunity for Hampton to come together and make a lasting difference,” said Mark Bettle, chair of the Summit Centre Campaign Cabinet. “The response so far has been incredible, and we hope the momentum continues as we move forward.”

The $28-million facility, which has been in development for over a decade, will feature an NHL-sized ice surface, indoor walking track, community lounge, and other amenities designed for full accessibility.

According to Mayor Robert Doucet, the project represents an investment in the town’s future.

“This isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about building a space where people can connect, stay active, and create lasting memories,” Doucet said.

Funding for the Summit Centre comes from all levels of government and private donors:

  • $8.3 million – Government of Canada
  • $6 million – Province of New Brunswick
  • $10 million – Town of Hampton
  • $2.2 million – Private contributions so far

Construction on the Summit Centre is expected to be completed by this fall.
