Man In Custody After Harbour Bridge Crash

**Updated at 5:29 p.m. Saturday**

A man is facing several charges after an incident that led to a nearly two-hour closure of Saint John’s Harbour Bridge.

Saint John police say they received reports at around noon about a woman in distress in a vehicle in the uptown area.

When officers arrived, the driver fled the scene and crashed a short time later on the Harbour Bridge.

That forced the closure of the Bridge to both east and westbound traffic for almost two hours.

Police say they discovered after the crash that the vehicle was stolen. No one was seriously hurt.

A man was taken into custody at the scene. There’s no word on the specific charges as of yet.

Saint John police are asking the woman who alerted officers to the woman in distress to contact them.
