Health Minister Grilled Over Parlee Beach Water Quality

Questions about the provincial Health Department’s budget got into why reports of poor water quality at Parlee Beach weren’t made public.

Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau says the test results were misinterpreted last year and a committee is reviewing how to make the system of alerting beachgoers better but nothing is bulletproof.

Conservative M-L-A Brian MacDonald of Fredericton West-Hanwell says public health and the regional medical health officer should have taken the bull by the horns because they get the reports and know how to interpret them.

Boudreau told MacDonald public health doesn’t have an oversight role. MacDonald says it should.
