If heat is escaping from your home, then so is your money.
That warning from NB Power as it encourages those homeowners who use electricity for heat to get their homes evaluated for energy savings.
Greg Morris is one of the home evaluators for NB Power and he sees a tremendous amount of leakage from the homes.
“Which personally, I think is one of your larger energy losses is the untreated air passing through your house after doing a blower-door test it tells you the equivalent sized hole that is existing in your house.
So if you’ve got six air changes per hour in your house you’d have the equivalent of a six foot hole constantly open in your home,” says Morris.
NB Power says having your home insulated can save up to 40 per cent on your heating and cooling bills. It’s also estimated that energy efficiency projects have injected something like over $44-million into the New Brunswick economy.
