Brain Bikes and the Falcon’s Fidget Kits. Just a few of the learning tools put in place by Bonnie Hierlihy at Fairvale elementary in Rothesay.
She has been named one of Canada’s outstanding principals for 2018 by the Learning Partnership.

Hierlihy tells CHSJ News they were able a few years ago to purchase stationary bikes or brain bikes for each classroom.
“The bikes help with self-regulation that works for many children who can be restless, tired, anxious and children that struggle with sustained attention” Hierlihy says “A quick 5 minute ride on the bike has them focusing and ready to learn”.
She feels very honoured to be named one of the top principals in the country.
As a winner, she gets to attend an event later this month in Toronto and it includes leadership training in education and business.
