High-Risk Takedown On Rothesay Avenue Involving A Weapon

A brief commotion on Rothesay Avenue leading to the arrest of three people.

The incident began just before noon today when Saint John police got a call about a man pointing a weapon at the Park Plaza motel.

Sgt. Tom Clayton tells CHSJ News they learned the suspect had left the motel in a black sedan heading uptown.

“Officers spotted the vehicle and they did a high-risk takedown and three occupants in the vehicle were arrested and a firearm was recovered,” says Clayton.

Clayton says anytime there is a weapon, the situation is a bit heightened especially considering what just happened in Fredericton.

“You just don’t know and since last week everyone would be for sure”.

The situation impacted traffic as well causing a big slowdown over the lunch hour.
