The honorary consul to France thinks that country could have a role to play in the new replica of Fort La Tour to be built on Harbour Passage.
Dr. Thierry Chopin tells us it’s a French story and he hopes the government of France will be ready to help.
“It’s a beautiful part of French history, Acadian history, Canadian history, to have it in Saint John is really a unique thing,” says Chopin.
“As a matter of fact, it’s the site of the only civil war outside of France.”

The location is perfect, says Chopin, because it’s right on the harbour close to where tourists arrive on cruise ships.
Chopin is a dual citizen of France and Canada and works as a professor of Marine Biology at UNB Saint John.
