Housing Prices On The Rise For 2020

As 2019 draws to a close, RE/MAX is out with its national housing outlook for 2020.

The real estate company says the average sales price is expected to increase by 3.7 per cent.

Corey Breau, an associate broker and salesperson in Saint John, said they are predicting an increase of four per cent in Greater Saint John.

“We’re predicting a sale price of $189,778 in 2020 at the end of the year due to limited inventory,” said Breau.

Breau said more buyers than ever are flocking to the region, in part due to affordability.

Move-up, foreign, first-time and move-over buyers will continue to drive demand in the region in 2020, he said.

“The hottest neighbourhoods right now would be Rothesay, Quispamsis and Millidgeville,” said Breau. “[They’re] close to amenities such as the hospital and the uptown core.”

Popular properties include one- and two-storey detached homes, along with semi-detached homes and duplexes.
