Just the other day my wife was telling me about comments posted by some trolls concerning the Area 506 Festival and the city of Saint John. The trolls have a conspiracy theory that the event was put in place primarily to promote Mayor Don Darling and his agenda and council and that the city should not be wasting tax payer’s money on such events. There are over two dozen sponsors that make area 506 possible. We all have the right to criticize and question our government and we should but let’s give credit where credit is due. This is a unique event that promotes our city and province. The container village and Road of Restaurants are one of a kind and the Entertainment is always top notch. I will be the first to admit our city is in big trouble financially and lots needs to be done to bring the city back to its glory days but we should also promote and build on the positive things that have been done in recent years. If we listened and followed the nay-sayers there would be no Harbour Passage, Imperial Theatre, Moonlight Bizarre, and now Fort La Tour or splash pads for the kids and so on. So ignore the ill-informed and ignorant trolls and Negative Nellies and enjoy all our city has to offer this weekend, Area 506 and all of the New Brunswick Day celebrations on the Boardwalk and elsewhere around the city and area.
