An inmate has been assaulted at the Atlantic Institution in Renous.
Prison officials say the assault occurred on Wednesday and the inmate was taken to an outside hospital for treatment.
The offender has been identified and RCMP have been called in to help investigate.
No staff members or other inmates were hurt during the incident.
