Inmate dies after hospital transfer from N.B. jail

A 59-year-old inmate has died while in custody at the Dalhousie Regional Correctional Centre.

Malcolm MacInnis was taken to Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 31, after being evaluated by medical staff, according to the Department of Justice and Public Safety.

Officials say MacInnis died on Thursday.

RCMP and Coroner Services have been notified, as part of standard procedure.

Authorities added that MacInnis was serving a sentence in Custody at the time.

His death is not believed to involve foul play or self-harm.
