J-D Irving To Hold Sussex Job Fair Next Week

A job fair will be held next Thursday by J-D Irving at the All Seasons Inn on Main Street in Sussex. This follows the announcement earlier this week of 430 jobs being lost with the suspension of mining operations in the province by Potash Corp of Saskatchewan.

The C-E-O of Ignite Fredericton, Larry Shaw says the potash loss should prompt the provincial government to have second thoughts about raising the corporate tax rate from 12 to 14 per cent.

Shaw welcomes the J-D Irving job fair. The company is looking to fill 79 hundred jobs over the next three years in Canada and the U.S. with 89 per cent of them in the Atlantic Provinces.

The job fair will be held from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon and then from 2:00 until 7 at night.
