J.D. Irving is looking to buy and close the section of Elliott Row between Carmarthen and Wenworth Streets to convert it into a company parking lot.
Geoff Britt of JDI tells CHSJ News they distributed handouts to their neighbours last week which detail the development proposal including concept drawings and, according to Britt, the feedback they have received to date has been positive.
In the handout it states that the parking area behind their head office building at 300 Union Street would be available for use by neighbourhood residents during overnight snow parking ban periods and include green space and pedestrian access.
It also says that in March they plan on conducting geotechnical tests which will include drilling on the property.
The matter is now before Common Council and will be coming up at its meeting on Monday.
