Interest in the Saint John Harbour riding has been high but it spiked a bit when Gerry Lowe made his intentions to run for the Liberals official this week.
Both Barry Ogden and Gail Bremner are seeking the PC nomination and that will be decided at a nomination convention next Wednesday.
UNB Saint John Associate Political Science Professor JP Lewis says it’s always interesting to have a contested nomination race.
“It’s a good thing for the party to get volunteers and organizers enthused about the coming general election and also to bring what can be positive media attention if it’s simply a competitive race and that’s the story,” Lewis said.
NDP Leader Jennifer MacKenzie is also running in the riding of Saint John Harbour.
