It has been four years since Keith Ashfield’s political career came to a halt with the defeat of the Federal Conservative government, but now he has that campaign itch once again.
Ashfield has won the PC nomination for the provincial riding of Oromocto-Fredericton-Lincoln and says he is looking forward to hearing from people in the riding about their concerns.
Ashfield, who was an MLA up until 2008 says the provincial debt is a major concern for him.
“We had a debt of 6.7 billion dollars, its now over 14 billion dollars, people have to understand that the current government is making promises and spending money every time they turn around and it’s not sustainable,” says Ashfield.
Ashfield says he was welcomed back into the party by leader Blaine Higgs with open arms and says with his health issues now long behind him he can’t wait to start pounding the pavement for September’s election.
